Cheryl and Paul Hoover are the artists who make up The Gilded Gourd. We work primarily with very sturdy varieties of Cucurbitaceae Lagenaria, commonly known as hard-shell gourds. 

 

We've been fascinated by the beauty and versatility of gourds since our first introduction to gourds as an art form 20-plus years ago. Cheryl's appreciation of a variety of media is evidenced in her use of oils, acrylics, pen and ink, fiber coiling, and inlay. ​Paul's work is detailed, precise, and balanced, focusing on pyrography and oils. 

 

We pride ourselves on a commitment to excellent craftsmanship. We were honored to have been juried members of the prestigious League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and maintained that affiliation until we moved to northwestern Wisconsin, where we were pleased to be affiliated with the Two Loons Gallery and Boutique in the trendy Lincoln Park area of Duluth, Minnesota; and at Kindred Stone & Co. in Superior, Wisconsin.  We've recently moved back to Virginia and are looking for appropriate sales venues in the Fredericksburg area.
